has had so many nightmares himself he knows just how to take care of you

having someone with him at night helped reduce the stress and the number of ones he has <3

you’ll wake up from a nightmare, crying out as you shoot up and he’s there for you from the very start, sitting up as well and shushing you, pulling you to his chest

“it’s okay, it’s okay,” he kept repeating as he drew your head near to his chest. “deep breaths, bella,” he encouraged softly, holding your face so that you were looking directly into his eyes while he gave you a gentle smile. he ran his hands through your hair, smoothing it out until your breathing calmed down

is super patient with you throughout the whole process, will not act sleepy in the slightest so that you don’t feel bad for waking him up or anything else

“ ‘m sorry I woke you,” your voice shook as you tried to take a deep breath, wiping the tears away from your eyes.

he took your hands off your face, using his own to brush away your tears with all the care in the world. “don’t be sorry, I was half awake anyway. take your time, love.”

he’ll offer to listen if you want to talk about it, but he understands if you’re not ready yet

tries to coax you back to sleep soon after because he wants you to rest

but he knows from experience how hard it can be when your mind is racing

the reason it’s helped him so much to sleep with someone though is bc it can take your mind off the dream <3

he’ll position you against his chest and between his legs while he rests against the headboard of the bed. he’ll intertwine his arms with yours, rubbing circles on your wrists while he hums softly to distract you

if you’re feeling sensitive to noise, he’ll place his hands over your ears instead, using his thumbs to rub the sides of your head

he’s there for whatever you need him to do. during your first nightmare with him, he’ll still be figuring out how you react to them. after that, he'll remember exactly what you need and want from him. he wants to make sure you feel safe and comfortable no matter what <3

wakes up first while you’re still tossing and turning in your dream

he’ll sit up and lean over, waking you as gently as he can. he’ll cup your face as you wake up, brushing anyway any tears with warm hands

“hey, hey, it’s okay. you’re okay. it’s just a bad dream. I’m right here. you’re safe,” he whispered softly as you woke up shaking, your breathing erratic

he kisses away the rest of your tears, touching you so gently and with so much love

asks if you want to talk about it and if you need anything else which he’ll be happy to get for you

afterward, he’ll pull you close to his chest, one hand on your head and the other around your waist, making you feel secure and protected

I think he’d be the type who would keep talking the whole time, distracting you from your thoughts. he’ll talk you through everything he’s doing, he’ll continue to comfort you, and will talk about any other random thing once you both have laid back down

probably tries to make some jokes a little bit before you head back to sleep as well to make you feel better

“sometimes, that stupid dazai shows up in my dreams and I just know it’s not a coincidence. there’s no way that scheming blockhead doesn’t have some mysterious way of communicating and entering people’s dreams. and he does it just to piss me off. ugh, just thinking about it makes me upset,” he ran a hand through his hair, smiling when you let out a small laugh, wiping away the last of your tears with the back of your hand.

he took your hand in his own and kissed it softly, “there’s my pretty girl. see? you’re safe, nothing bad is gonna happen.”

tecchou

does not wake up

you wake up from your nightmare, eyes bleary and heart racing. the only thing you want is to be in his arms so you wake him

once he sees your tears though he’s up immediately, hands on your face as he wipes them away, “oh angel, what’s wrong?”

you place your hand over his own, “just a nightmare…I’m sorry I didn’t know what else to do.”

“nothing to be sorry about,” he says softly, a smile on his face as if you had said something funny, “that’s what I’m here for. I’m glad you woke me up.”

he suggests making a warm drink to calm you down if you’re up for it

in his experiences, he’s found it best to get up and change his surroundings in order to get his mind off a bad dream

if you say yes, he’ll make you something to drink before sitting next to you in the kitchen. he’ll be with you the whole time, telling you that he’s willing to listen if you want to talk about it or anything else if you don’t want to think about it

will have a hand on your thigh or back, rubbing it slowly to comfort you

when you both head back to bed, he’ll hold you close to him, one hand intertwined with yours to let you know he’s there while the other runs through your hair <3

if you don’t want to get up from the bed, that’s okay too, he’ll ask you what you want him to do and makes sure your every need is taken care of <3

kisses your forehead as you both lay back down, then draws patterns across your skin with one hand. the other one flat against your lower back to keep you pressed against him

if you’re still a little scared, he’ll continue to comfort you and reassure you that it’s okay. he’ll wipe away any more tears and stay awake the whole time. he tries to make sure he hears your breathing slow and that you’ve fallen back asleep before he closes his own eyes again to make sure that you get the rest you deserve <3

U N E X P E C T E D _ P A R T I

・ Hello ! So this is the first Part of « Unexpected » I feel like it's a mid start, but I guess all artist are the same, not 100% satisfied with their work. So, tell me what you think of this start. We're not gonna see Ji Yong that much in this first part, cause I needed to set up the arrival of Reader in the city and talk about her a little bite and why she's there and everything. _ Amy, For the last time, I said No !

Walking back from school, you talked with your best friend Amy about the same subject for the umpteenth time this week. Her dad, who live In South Korea, works as a Manager for groups in a music company called YG Entertainment. He told her they will have auditions at the beginning of Summer to find new talents and since Amy is a popular singer on Tik Tok and has many followers, she’s sure to find her place there. The only thing is ; She needs you with her. She needs you for emotional support but also because you are the creator of all her successful songs. You wrote every song she sang and made the music behind everything she put online. Unfortunately you can’t afford to go In South Korea for the whole summer. You have an apartment to pay, bills , a job to pay school. You have your boring adult life and duties, not like your best friend who still Live with her mother and drops out School.

_Y/N please I really need you. I want you there with me and I'm gonna need a New song for the audition. I need you to work with me on it. _You can totally take one of your old songs. You know I can’t afford that. If I could, you know I will agree to go to support you. But I can’t … _My brother want to leave the house but he’s not sure yet, maybe if You accept to rent your apartment for the Summer, You will have a problem solved, right ? _Yeah, Kinda ? What about my job ? What about my next school session ? I need to pay it. _I will ask my mom to pay for it ? Please, I really want you to come. My dad agreed to pay the plane ticket for both of Us. Since the time I talk about you he’s really excited to meet you. _I don’t know…I’m not really comfortable letting your mom pay for my things …

Amy didn’t stop trying to convict you to come with her and You finally agree IF you didn’t had any thing except your own personal stuff to pay once you gonna be In Seoul and IF her mom can pay for your school. Of course you plan to give the money back if she can at least help on that, it will help you and make your friend Happy.

So this is how you found yourself, some weeks later in the Plan, direction Seoul in South Korea. During the fly, Amy didn’t stop talking about all the handsome artists her dad work with and some other groups this label have. You just nodded and listen and forget everything she said 20 minutes later since you didn’t really care. You only go there for her as her best friend, supporter and first Fan.

_Oh this is Big Bang, they’re so good. Really handsomes, amazing dancers, pretty voices, I like them so much and can’t wait to met them

She show you a picture of the group. You didn’t feel as impressed as she was. When you gave a look at when they started you raised an eyebrow. They’re probably older than you.

_They’re way older than you… _And ? _Oh I don’t know, the way you talk about them, with this little sparkle in the eyes makes me feel like you want to marry one of them, you answered as a joke.

You saw her cheeks becoming a little more pink as she took her phone back and looked at the picture with a smile.

_Honestly, they’re the ones who gave me courage to start singing. I always wanted to be as badass as them, as good as them. I hope one day we can work together. Also, when I was younger I had a Huge crush on the leader. His stage name is G-Dragon, but his real name is Ji-Yong. Look at how hot he is.

She showed you a picture. Her little story was really cute and more impressive than the guy she talked about. You gave a quick look at the pictures she had on her phone before giving it back.

_Yeah he’s … kinda Cute, I guess. _Oh, maybe you're gonna find a Boyfriend there ? That will be so nice and also adorable. Your first boyfriend, met during a Summer trip. It sound So… -K-Drama Core. No thank you. If I am to get myself a Boyfriend I will prefer him to live closer to me. Not millions miles away. _Y/N Why are you so dramatic ? Can you just let yourself go to some little fantasies ? _I wish I could.

If life was a little bit more gentle with you before, maybe you would still have been like Amy ; Positiv, hopeless romantic with a lot of hopes for many things. Unfortunately you lost this little sparkle over time, but you still try to appreciate what you have, like this trip. Even if you’re not over the moon like your friend, You are still really happy to live this experience, it will change a lot from your boring life.

You even get this chance to learn some Korean Words or basic sentences. Even If your friend speaks perfectly Korean, you want to be able to do things on your own.

The flight was Long and once you got out of the airport, you only wanted to Sleep. It was around 7am when you arrived. You were pretty tired but being here, in a new city, you felt so inspired and got Ideas for a new song, making you smile.

Amy’s father was the one who came to get you at the airport. Your friend was so happy to see her father and just jumped in his arms, talking in Korean to each other, until she introduced you to his Appa, who means father from what you learned.

You also were introduced to Hang Min, his Son, who’s Amy Half-brother. You bowed respectfully and tried to introduce yourself In korean. They both smiled, happy to see you tried.

The ride to Amy’s father’s place wasn’t that long, but since they both talked in their language, you used that time to write in your phone some words for the beginning of your next song, well, more for Amy than for You, actually. You hummed the beat, trying to think the words could all fit together, moving your head and shoulder under the sound in your heads.

_You got Ideas for a New song ? Amy asked _Yeah, I write it on my phone to not lose the words. But I will put it in my notebook once we're gonna be at your father’s place. And after that I'm gonna go to sleep. _As you should, said Hang Min, cause Tonight I will bring you somewhere to celebrate your arrival. _Is that just a reason to bring your friends and drink ? Asked Amy

Hang Min smiled at his Sister before he answered in Korean. You noticed Amy called him an idiot and smiled. You are not the type who likes to go out and drink but, somehow you feel like tonight could be special. Maybe, for once you could allow yourself again to let yourself go and just enjoy life and trust it again.

The house was bigger than you thought. Amy Step Mom is an actress, so it explains the beautiful house. They even have a Pool.

Once arrived In Amy’s room, you let your stuff in a corner and just let yourself down on the bed, closing, closing your eyes. Sleep came to quickly, you didn’t had time to write your new song idea, but at least you have it in Your phone so it can still wait.

You woke up around 2 Pm, Amy was already awake and talked With Hang Min in the living room. He said he will bring you both to a special Bar where Kpop artists usually go if they want to have some fun and drink a little. After all, they can’t really go where they want without being chased by paparazzi. Amy didn’t stay in place, happy with the idea of meeting a hot guy who’s also in the entertainment Industry. That’s where Hang Min slowed her down by saying many normal people like all of you can go too. You just need to act cool in front of the artist since most of the ‘’ normal ‘’ people are close to managers or music writers or even, sometimes other artist kids.

You passed the afternoon with Amy to write her a new song for the audition. She asked her dad If you and her could go at YG tomorrow to use the recording studio. He said He will ask his boss and will be back as quick as possible, with the answer. You didn’t feel really inspired with her topic for the song. It was about love, something new, something cute, but you worked hard on the lyrics until she approved it. The love topic is not an easy one for you since your ex. You wrote about him when you broke up, but never showed Amy. You have a lot of songs about your inner feelings that you never showed. It’s like your little secret garden and you don't plan to show it to someone so soon.

_My dad said Yes ! Screamed Amy when she got her reply form her dad, we can go Tomorrow between 11am and 13pm. _Two hours to record a song and create music ? It’s not enough… _The audition is in three days, we can still ask for the studio again, maybe. _I hope, Otherwise you gonna have to choose an Old song. I will not rush a creation just for An audition.

Amy and You continued to work on the lyrics until it was time to Eat. Hang Min had cooked something you never tried before and It was amazing. After, you jump in a Shower and prepare yourself to go to the bar. You put on a ( F/C ) dress, some jewels, styled your hair and put on some makeup. When you looked at your reflection, you smiled, pretty satisfied. Amy commented on how hot you looked before going into the car.

It was around 10pm when you entered the Bar. It was huge and noisy and of course full of people. Some were at the bar, talking, others were on the dancefloor, dancing. You never heard of the song who’s playing but it had a good beat and it was enjoyable.

_Okey so, open your localisation or your phone. If we lost each other and we followed a guy and he’s a serial killer at least the other gonna knew where we were. And if we just leave with someone, don’t forget to met me at the Studio of YG for 11am. I will text you the adresse. _Do you plan to just hook up with a stranger tonight ? You asked, confused. _Maybe, or at least make out with one and get pretty drunk. But I will not let you alone. We gonna drink a little bite with my brother and his friends, go to the dancefloor and if we notice a hot guy we can just… let ourself go.

You rolled your eyes as an answer, not sure that your friend have the best idea but you didn’t say a thing. Her dad lives in Korea but because of her mom she never came here often. I guess there’s nothing bad about having the time of her life.

_I just hope you are not gonna fall for a serial killer, you answered as you received the address of YG for tomorrow. _Well, Killers are hot, she said with a smile.

As the evening goes, you met Hang Min’s friend, they were all really nice and welcoming, except one girl who was too much over your best friend’s brother, always calling him ‘’ oppa ‘’ with a cring fake cute voice. She somehow made it clear, she loves Hang Min and seems to see you like a threat or something.

You can’t remember how much you drank. You just took every shot Amy gave you. You don’t even remember the last time you drank that much and you didn’t really care. If Amy was to get wasted, you will not play the sober friend. For once, you want to let yourself go. You always were so serious those last year, you made jokes with your best friend but since your last breakup, you always felt like you faked everything. You play the girl who doesn't care about anything, who doesn't need a guy, who doesn't need love, but you secretly envy your friend to be able to dream, to hope, to be able to let herself go without caring. Tonight, you want to be like that too and if you regret, well.. you will forget everything once you get home. This trip is a one time shot in your life and you don’t want to waste it.

Following your friend on the dancefloor, you looked at the floor above you, making eye contact with a guy with colored hair. You noticed he smiled at you and softly waved his hand. You smile back before you turn back your attention on Amy, dancing with her.

The loud music, the alcohol running through your body, you felt frozen in time, dancing like the night will never end, until you finally noticed that your friend wasn’t there anymore. She just disappeared without even warning you. Rolling your eyes, you decided to let her do what she want and just continue to dance until you felt a hand on your hips and someone telling in your ear.

_Mind if I join you ?

You turned around and smiled when you saw the guy who was on the second floor not that long ago. As an answer you put your arms around his neck, moving your body through the rhyme of the music as he does the same.

_I had my eyes on you since you entered the bar. You look pretty hot. What’s your name ? _I’m Y/N _Nice to meet you, I’m Ji Yong.

You smiled again, not used to this, but the alcohol gave you some courage to do stuff you would never do if you were sober. Maybe because you were too shy ? Or because you have a lack of confidence ? Maybe both.

Still dancing with Ji yong, you quickly noticed he was good at this. Your back was on his chest, his hands on your hips, making you move as the rhythm of the music and you just naturally follow his lead. You could feel his lips brushing the skin of your neck, making your body shiver, eager for more. You hand slid in his hair. You pressed your ass a little bite more against him, still moving. Your cheeks start becoming red when you feel something hard between you and him. You knew exactly what it was and you liked the feeling it gave you, making you move more sensually on him, making Ji yong grip your hips more.

_Maybe we should go somewhere else, princess, he said, in your ear, You 're driving me a little too much crazy to stay here.

You turned around and look at him with a smirk on your face

AHHH ok, let's talk about Lucifer and Alastor

I've been reading a lot of reactions to Hazbin: from the gushers who think the show is perfect to the hyper-critical who hate the show, the creator, and everything in between. I don't fall into any of those categories. I had a lot of fun watching it, but there were some things I liked, and some others I didn't. You know, as it's usually the case with any piece of media one interacts with.

I love reading other people's opinions. It makes me pay more attention to things I might have missed. BUT for Hazbin, most of the criticism I've seen boils down to two things: either "I, personally, didn't like it, so that means it's bad" which is not the hot take people seem to think it is, or just lack of media literacy.

I won't go over all the examples of that last point (there are plenty), but one example people are using to criticize the show --which I can't seem to get out of my head so now I have to write about it-- it's how out of left field it was for Alastor to think of himself as a father figure to Charlie.

My guys and guysettes, that's because he doesn't.

He does it to piss off Lucifer, because he doesn't like him. That's it.

"But they just met, why doesn't he like him?" I don't know! but let's go over some examples, shall we?

In the first episode, during Alastor's TV ad, we see a picture of the hotel, clearly drawn by him. I ask you to look to the bottom left where it says "No tacky circus decor! I promise"

Do we know what he is referring to? Sure we do! the ring circus master himself! Lucifer Morningstar, whose whole schtick is circus-related. Clearly, Alastor is not a fan.

When Lucifer arrives to the hotel, did anybody catch Alastor's first reaction? (besides calling him short to his face, ofc)

Do you see that trembling eye? He is PISSED. Why? Who the hell knows! But he clearly does not care for the King of Hell himself (if you force me to give you my opinion on this, I think it's because of Alastor's delusions of grandeur, and plain-ole narcissism, but that is a conversation for another post, if I ever gather enough energy to write it)

He introduces himself and immediately does this. R-U-D-E.

Now, let's talk about the song itself, which, again, is clearly just an attempt to piss off Lucifer and not really about Charlie. At all.

He only cares about Lucifer's reactions. Because he is not being HONEST. We can all see that? right?? I mean, it is pretty FREAKING obvious. He is just trying to get a rise out of Lucifer.

And now, the moment we were all waiting for, the infamous "call me dad" moment.

Which had nothing to do with Charlie, and it was just another example of Alastor being the most annoying bastard alive. He is not even looking at her! He is staring Lucifer dead in the eye and saying "piss off shortie".

Why? Again, I dunno. Your guess is as good as mine. I hope we'll get the answer in season 2, because immediate animosity against the King of Hell himself is something I need some context for. Is it funny? Absolutely! I love that song! The violin solo? PURE GOLD (he he)

But for the love of Christ and the Antichrist, please stop thinking of "Alastor thinks of himself as Charlie's dad out of nowhere" as a valid criticism. As some have speculated, Alastor involvement with Charlie will probably have something to do with Alastor's deal and 7-year absence. If it's never explained, then sure, what the heck Vivzie?? please include it on the show!

There are PLENTY of things we could criticize about Hazbin (and people smarter and with more energy than me have done so already). But there are so many examples of "criticism" that are just examples of "I don't know how to interact with media anymore" and I beg of you to do better. This is a tiny example of the show showing and not telling, and some of y'all failed the comprehension test.

It is a fun show, guys. Enjoy it.

the practical part tho oh lord

if you manage to play a song, even with some mistakes that he’ll pretend they weren’t there, he’s very proud <3

and after each learning session it’s safe to say you have like +10 guitar picks on you

he’d make it his personal goal to teach you how to play at least two of your fav songs (and a couple of theirs >_<)

he doesn’t have the heart to tell you that he was busy staring at u so he just claps and assures you that you did well

then you just pull him closer and giggle while he plays at one end of the keyboard and you in the other

he could just stay like this forever

jungsu covers your ears before you can hear o.de saying how horrendously you play 😍

he kicks him out and then you’re back to vibing :D

and then he just lets you vibe with the guitar, watching you with an amused smile <333

After giving the order to follow coordinates to capture the girl, you quickly walked to the nearest window to look at the city. It was impossible... She had to be... No, the avatar was supposed to be in the South at this exact moment learning airbending! Or, well, at least that was what your mother told you.

They didn't pay you enough to be lieutenant, you thought to yourself while looking at the suspect in the streets, master Tenzin was supposed to be with her, what the hell was she doing in the city?

Once captured and brought to the station, you were the first one to hop off the transport and handcuff her before entering the building.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hey! What are you doing?” she tried to resist with no success to get out of your grip. “Wait, where are you taking Naga? Stop!”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm gonna need you to stay calm, avatar.” you said in a soft tone, as if that was the magic word, she relaxed her muscles and allowed you to guide her. “This is protocol, you were disturbing the peace and... Destroying property.”

Korra turned her face to look at you, confused. “How do you know I'm the avatar? Most importantly, why just me? There were three men robbing people!”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Well, for once, I don't really know any water tribe person who can fire and earthbend too, do you?” a funny smile painted your face, Korra felt her face grow warm at the gesture. “And I know that, I already have men bringing them too.”

The girl blinked surprised, feeling an electric current traveling along her back when your eyes met hers. Mossy green with thin yellow areolas and sparkles of grey, she caught after you looked away.

Both walked into an interrogation room and you got rid of her handcuffs for a moment, offering her a seat you stood next to the table, alert at anything that could happen.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What's your name, officer?” Korra asked calling for your attention once more, when you turned to her your mouth opened to answer, but were cut off with the sound of your boss saying your name. You tilted your head like saying 'that' to the avatar and turned completely.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Ma'am.” you greeted the older woman, standing straight. “We got the suspects, Song is bringing the remaining men from the scene.” with a quick finger movement you locked back the handcuffs before the woman could see.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Thank you, lieutenant, you can leave us.” you nodded and walked out of the room, but stayed close. There was something about Korra that caught your attention, besides the fact that she was the avatar.

Against any popular belief, being the only other Beifong in the city at the moment didn’t give you any special treatment and that would include meeting the avatar before she arrived. Your mother was too strict, she had no interest on you meeting the girl for security. Your own security.

She knew how being close to the avatar could mean putting you in danger too and since you were her only daughter, she didn’t want that. You acted the way she wanted you to, even becoming part of the police force was her idea, she said it was to have you secure and for you to being able to defend yourself; your ascent to lieutenant was all on your own.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Lieutenant Beifong!” a familiar male voice called for you, your eyes looked up from the papers on your hands and a smile took place.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Councilman Tenzin,” you greeted back. “Can I help you, sir?”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm here to collect a troublesome avatar.” he answered, a tired look in his face made you giggle a little bit.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We have her, yeah.” you pointed with your head for him to follow you to the interrogation room. “Is she here for training?”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “No, she's here because she didn’t understand that our training needed to be delayed.” a small grimace appeared on your face, your lips and nose frowned.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “She seems happy to be here instead of... wherever she was hidden before.” you said in a small voice. Tenzin looked at you with a raised eyebrow.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Her place is not the city, not now.” he ended the discussion, you nodded and walked up to the door, announcing him to your mother.

After what appeared to be an agreement talk for all the parts, you saw the man and the girl walk out the room. Korra was the first to notice you and walk up to you, an almost invisible blush showed on her cheeks.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm sorry for the troubles.” she said, you brushed it off with your hand and a big smile.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Don't worry, I'm sure we will see each other again some time.” offering your hand for her to shake, she did and smiled big too.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Thank you, lieutenant Beifong, I'll see you around.” Tenzin said his goodbye, making you nod.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You're a Beifong too!?” Korra opened wide her eyes, you nodded once more with a little laugh.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Chief's daughter.” you answer in a whisper before sighing. “Here to help and serve you, avatar.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Call me Korra, please, that's my name.” she presented herself, your eyes sparkled at her name and your own voice repeated it in a low tone.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Let's go, Korra, we have to retrieve Naga too.” the airbender called, breaking the eye contact between you two.

She turned a second time and mouthed a little 'bye' before letting go of your hand and walk back to the man. You stood there watching her leave, closing the hand that had the avatar's almost like feeling the absence of the warmth you felt when you hold it and then your mother's voice saying your name made you jump in place and almost run to her.

After that interaction, the southerner was almost everything you got in your mind even when you were working. You felt so intrigued to Korra, almost daily you found yourself wondering about her, not being able to look for her mainly because of your work keeping you busy with the new anti–benders movement taking strength.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We need to have all the officers available in every entrance.” was overheard when arriving to the room with a files that needed to be approved. The man in the room left with one of the folders after the chief dismissed him.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm on duty tonight, I can go.” you said without anyone asking, putting the other folder on a little basket and turning to your mother, she was arms crossed. “You said you need all the officers. I'm an officer.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You, young lady, will stay out of danger.” she said taking the folder in her hands.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Mom,” she side–eyed you, raising an eyebrow. “Chief, I can go. I'm a lieutenant whether you like it or not, I am more help than I am hindrance.” you defended your case.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We are fighting equalist, lieutenant,” she began, letting the words on the air for a second before sighing. “I need you to be cautious and alert tonight, I don’t want anything happening to you.” the last part was said in a soft tone, you smiled.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'll be on my best behavior tonight, chief, I promise.” she dismissed you and that was your key to get ready.

Getting ready took you just a couple of minutes before following everyone to the bus. You got word about it being a championship of probending and how Korra was going to be part of it just as the group was entering the arena. Surprised took over you at the new information and seconds later, excitement at the thought of seeing the girl competing.

You greeted Tenzin when reporting to Lin about how everyone was on their spot and how you would take one of the balconies to be near the teams just in case.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Lieutenant Beifong, is good seeing you.” the man smiled ephemeral to you, you copied the gesture with a big smile. “Korra will be so happy to see you, I think she estimates you since the other day.”

Your eyes shined with curiosity and happiness to the comment. “Hopefully nothing big goes on and we can see her win tonight.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I wouldn't be so sure, kid. Take position, the match will begin soon.” Lin talked before Tenzin could make more small talk, you nodded and said goodbye to the older ones.

Knocking a couple of times on the door you entered poking your head to see the team of probenders. Korra's face lit up when she saw you and a big smile painted her face while exclaiming your name, she gave you a small greeting hug while you giggled.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hey, suspect, is so good seeing you here since someone doesn't like going to my work to say hi.” you poked her side making her laugh, your heart felt warm at the sound.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “It's been crazy days, I'm sorry.” she distanced herself making you want more proximity, but you had to get your head in your work. “Guys, this is the friend I've been telling you about,” she presented you by name to the two men and you smiled a little. “They are my friends and team, Mako and Bolin.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Great meeting you guys,” you said, both hands behind your back. “I'm here to ensure your safety tonight.”

A small talk began between the group and when the lights got low, everyone got in position. You decided to be near the edge for easy access and, conveniently, you were more attentive of the match. The first half went by smoothly, you were cheering for the fire ferrets and got to wave a couple of times to Korra, assuring her with pure gestures how it was okay to lose the first round.

Suddenly you started to hear electric shocks and the sound of metal hitting the floor, with a frown you tried to get a look of what was happening and before you could make any sound, you were hit by electricity into unconsciousness. Korra had fallen into the water by then, when resurfacing to look at you, she only caught your silhouette hitting the floor and seconds later, it happened to her too before she made any move to go to you.

Minutes that felt like hours passed and just as an explosion took place, you were able to get into consciousness and back on your feet. Seeing how you were again alone on the balcony, your mind quickly remembered Korra; with back pain you stood back up and ran to the edge seeing Korra submerge in the water, one look at the group of equalists trying to leave gave you the context.

When you calculated the distance you realize there was a chance she couldn’t make it in time with the limited water source, so you jumped to hang yourself to the roof with your metal cables and as suspected she started to fall back down after some height. You caught her by the waist, Korra looked up surprised at you and was met with a wink from one of your emerald eyes, she was thankful of how you were looking up planning on throwing her to the roof so you couldn’t see the way she blushed at the action.

It took you a moment after she was there to get up yourself and a second later, the chief made you two company. At first it was a fair fight until you got hit again by the electric glove of one of the attackers, a grunt came from you and made you drop to your knees with pain in your back... more than before.

Korra was quick to run your way and defend you as much as she could, you, on the other hand, took the hit as an excuse to stay down looking at her, amazed on the way she moved attacking the man and captivated on how good she looked fighting them.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Lieutenant!” your own mother screamed from a couple of meters away making you turn quickly at her. She had her eyebrows raised.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Right, sorry!” you were fast to stand up and help them fight as much as possible.

There was a point were Lin was able to hook to the airship, you were making sure she was well supported that got distracted and pushed by one of the men. Thankfully you were quick to use your cable to hook yourself and prevent a fatal fall.

You landed near Tenzin who helped you get up and a minute later, the same chief and avatar fell through the roof to where you two were.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Oh, thank the spirits you're okay.” Korra said when she saw you.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm a tough lieutenant, they can't take me down that easily.” you answered back, smiling, the avatar giggled. “That was... something.”

Korra nodded agreeing with you, her eyes looked up to the roof while yours stayed fixated to her face. “It was... I believe we will have a lot of work.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We will...” you said on a low voice, when her gaze turned back to you, both blushed to the sudden silence and clash of eyes. “But, uhm, you can count on me if you need anything. Protection, defense classes, a friend.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Oh! Same to you! Well, no the defense classes since you don't have any other bending besides earth and metal. Which are really cool too! I wish I could metalbend too.” Korra spoke a little too fast for you to understand anything, winning a giggled from you, she blushed more and felt her heart race.

Your mouth opened to speak again, but got interrupted by your name being called. “We're leaving! We have a lot of work in the morning!”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “On it!” you screamed back before turning to Korra and smile with calm. “Okay then, you know where to find me. Don't get yourself in too much trouble, yeah? At least not when I'm not around.”

Korra mumbled a couple of positive answers, you took a step closer and gave her a kiss on the cheek as a goodbye before running to your mother when she called you a second time. The avatar stood still for a couple of seconds, not believing what had happened and smiling big afterwards, feeling like walking in clouds.

The next days were such a mess, work got more demanding than before, wherever the new chief was busy people looked for you asking for help or guidance such as had happened the night of your dismissal as police.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Lieutenant Beifong!” you knew that voice, a wave of relief washed over you after your eyes recognized her.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Korra, thanks the spirits you're here.” you said smiling ephemeral leaving the officers with their word in mouth, greeting her friends with your hand.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What are you doing? You need to leave this people alone!” a small frown was painted on her face, you sighed.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “That's what I've been trying to negotiate.” your hand was quick to point over to Tarrlok, Korra didn’t have any doubt in believing you. She knew you were on her side, she followed you no farther than three steps away.

You let her do all the talk, standing with a straight back and serious face, your hand was brushing hers in a secret way, even if Korra felt it she tried to act as if nothing was happening.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “No one moves!” you order after Tarrlok had told them to arrest the crowd, turning back to the officers.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What do you think you're doing, Beifong?” the man asked, anger and disgust filling his voice.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Ordering my men, the chief is not here and I'm the lieutenant. They answer to me.” you answered back with such calm, Korra looked at you amazed at how your voice changed from the particular soft tone she knows to an strict one, she had no doubt you earned the position.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Yeah, well, I'm the head in charge of this whole task force and you answer to me.” even when he was walking up to you, you didn’t flinch nor moved back. “Round them up!”

Half of the officers were a bit confused at the exchange, another part was hesitant since they were loyal to you, but wanted to keep their job and the last amount did it without any doubt.

When you started to hear the pavement break and some screams of fear, you grunted and broke eye contact with the man to help Korra get as many people out as you could. You were unaware of what was happening behind you until you got captured by cables and were forced to walk back to the police cars.

Seeing Korra lift two pieces of earth bigger than her with threatening aura made your heart skip a beat, feeling your ears burn and the officers took advantage of your distraction to hand cuff you.

'I'll get you out' she mouthed at you after you got into the car, a nod and a smile was your answer. You trusted Korra with your life by that point and you didn’t know it, but she trusted you with hers.

Being in prision was probably the most boring part of them all, you shared cell with Asami who you found to be such a sweet person and a great company while waiting to get out of prision and back into helping the avatar stop the whole equalists and Tarrlok's demeanor on the whole situation.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hope you got enough beauty sleep, ladies, let's go.” the familiar woman's voice made you close your eyes, wishing for the earth to open and swallow you in.

When you stood up, a nervous smile took place in your lips. “Heey, moooom...”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You and I will talk later, kid, we have a missing avatar we need to search for.” you felt your heart drop to your feet at the news.

It was almost impossible for someone in the group to deny how out of everyone, you were the most impatient of them all to find Korra. Moved by anger and impotence of the whole situation, you fought everyone who would interpose in your way of finding the avatar, having people pull you away from the unconscious bodies you fought with.

Lin surely made a mental note of that, adding it to the so said talk she wanted to have with you. When the group was able to find her wondering almost unconscious, you ran to her pushing everyone and asking to stop with the questions.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You scared the fuck out of me.” you whispered while taking her into your arms, she was quick to hug you by the neck and smile.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm sorry.” she whispered hoarsely, her eyes wandered along your features. A worried frown and an anxious glow in those mossy colored orbs she had been dreaming of since the first time she saw them.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm just glad you're okay.” with such caution as if you were handling the most fragile of things, you left Korra laying at the bison's seat. Your hands cupped her face while small caresses were provided by both thumbs. “We'll take you to safety so you can rest.”

One of her hands rested on top of one of yours and a weak smile met your gaze before she started to fall asleep and after that, you never left the avatar's side.

No one asked one question to either of you when the girl got better and you two started to be inseparable, when fighting you both found a way to complement each other's style, helping the other with every attack, sitting as close as humanly possible and making sure the other was okay when needed.

When having to divide and hide from the equalists, you made your life mission to protect the avatar from being seen anywhere and, clearly, following her when she wanted to see how the things were going outside. The night before the armed forces arrive to the city, you saw her sitting alone next to the polar dog while looking zoned out.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hello, stranger.” your voice made the avatar look up and smile, it was almost visible the way she relaxed at your presence. “How are you?”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Nervous, anxious...” she made space for you to seat, following her unspoken request you did. Her hand looked for yours unconsciously, you tangle your fingers together with a smile. “You know what's crazy? A few months ago I was in the south pole practicing for my firebending test.”

You giggled a little bit, she smiled at the sound of your laugh, feeling more calmed.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “And now... I'm in the middle of an all–out war.” her smile faded into a worry frown. Your body moved as closed as you could to her.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I was beginning my training for lieutenant.” you laugh after a couple of moments in silence, trying to lift up the mood. “Life will always take us to the most unpredictable of places, Korra, is up to us to use that for our own favor... But, at least I'm glad it took you to flee from the south, I got to meet you.”

Your eyes were looking at her face, but when she heard the last part, her face turned to you completely in an almost surprised way.

Her ice blue orbs had sparkles in it; the most cold tone of light blue, on the center of them a sunflower was painted, her pupils started to expand in such a slow way that it was imperceptible. You laugh to yourself at the thought of how you've never stopped to see all those little details until now.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm glad it was you who arrested me.” she confessed, even if it was on a jokingly way, you knew what she meant. A small laugh left your mouth.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “When we get that fucker thrown in jail, I want to take you out on a date.” you spat, feel the need to take advantage of the comfortable aura you two where involved in between all that chaos. “I know the best place in the city where can eat dinner.”

The avatar smiled big and nodded. “I would love that.” she said in such a soft tone, Korra looked for your warmth, wanting to have you in her arms. You didn’t step away, allowing her to hug you.

The final battle was a whole mess, the whole team was scattered all around the city fighting to bring down the equalists movement in just one hit. You went with the girl and Mako as reinforcement if anything went south.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Korra!” you exclaimed after getting backstage with the airbending family. She stopped to look back at you. “I need to go to my mother.”

Even if the last thing you wanted to do was leave her, there was this discomfort of needing to look for the ex–chief, to make sure she was okay.

Korra understood, she wasn't going to force you to stay, that wasn’t her. The girl walked up to you and without any warning, her lips met yours in a sweet, inexperience way that made you smile with such happiness.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Be careful, please.” you whispered over her lips, even if you wanted that moment to last forever, the clock was ticking, so you started to walk away. “Kick his ass and comeback! The two of you!” that was the last thing you said to the two before running after Tenzin and the kids.

And the next time you two met, Korra ran to your arms as soon as she saw you. “I lost my bending.” she whispered in a shaky voice, making you embrace the hug with a heavyweight on your heart.

You were sure to be by her side when the whole group traveled to the Southern Water Tribe in hopes that Katara herself could get Korra's bending back.

Resting your head in your mother's shoulder, you were holding her hand while she was alert to the door for the two of you. Once the older woman made her appearance, you stood up way too fast and payed attention with eagerness. Seeing the avatar show herself in the main room, you could only show her a smile from you and when she walked out your feet were the first ones to follow right away to her, calling for the girl.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Go, leave.” she said walking towards Naga.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I believe it would take more than that to stop me.” you talked back, raising one of your eyebrows. “We will figure this out, we–.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “No, go back to Republic City.” she cut you mid–sentence making you stop your steps. “I'm not the avatar anymore, you can go back to the city and live your life as calm as you were before I arrived.”

Your eyes blinked surprised at the way she was talking and you took the remaining steps away from her so she could look at you in the face.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What are you talking about? I can't live without you.” you were quick to say, looking for her eyes. “There's no way I can live moving forward without you and I get it now, you're all I needed in my life to feel complete.” her eyes looked brighter with the tears beginning to accumulate. “Korra, I love you.”

As if the air was pulled out of her lungs, Korra excused herself and left without looking back. You squeezed your lips in a thin line and sighed afterwards.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “She just needs time.” Tenzin said walking slowly to you, you turned and smiled weakly.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I just want her to be okay.” you said in a soft voice, he let one of his hands rest on your shoulder.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “She will be, Korra is stronger than she thinks.” the man answered, looking at the silhouette of the girl getting farther by minute. “You remind me of your mother, you know?”

You frowned with confusion looking back at him. “How so?”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Doing everything in her hands to ensure everyone's safety.” your eyes blinked a couple of times and your gaze got back to the front. “Maybe you should go after her to make sure she's okay.”

When you looked at him one last time, his eyes had a soft gaze in them, like looking on a mix of appreciation and encouragement. You nodded for a little bit and were soon quick to almost run after the avatar.

Arriving to were you could see Naga's prints, you looked amazed at the southerner in the avatar state for the first time, bending a big water wave only meaning she was able to get her connection with the elements back. When she was back, she saw you with such a big and proud smile on your lips; Korra didn’t waste any second to run to you ans hug you by the neck with her two arms and leave a shy kiss on your lips follow with the most sweet 'I love you too' you had ever heard said, making you almost melt at how good it sounded on her voice.

Alright so funny thing is I‘d planned to do a comprehensive list sometime ago but I never got to it so I‘ll just do it now ahaha

- The biggest difference is the physical intimacy between Fa Hua and Lan Ge due to censorship. In the novels, they consistently hold hands from start to finish every time they need to power up and use the abilities of the Peerless Bead together. But of course the censorship couldn‘t have that, so all we got was them occasionally grabbing each other‘s wrists or touching palms in place of a hand hold 😩 it‘s better than nothing, but yeah…I just absolutely love how the grew so used to it over time and that holding hands is the norm but…oh well

- Another huge difference is how Hongbao was much less targeted as a „potential love interest“ in the novel. The donghua most likely did that to make sure it isn‘t too gay or the censorship will get their ass 😔💔 that scene in episode 36 where they talked about Hongbao while they were drunk doesn‘t exist in the novel, instead we had this iconic ambiguous af scene that made me go 🤨🏳️‍🌈⁉️:

You could interpret this scene in many ways, but what was most important to me is that by this point, both of them already accepted that they may be connected for the rest of their lives and are okay with it. Compare that to LG fussing over this and being disgusted at the start qwq and FH who was so against this bc he didn’t want to feel whatever LG was feeling now simply laughing at the notion and teasing LG, I just— *sOBs* MAN. They make so me insane. OTL You can interpret this scene a million ways and most of them does not have any hetero explanation like- JDFKDJDKSJK

No wonder that when they actually do adapt this scene later on (oh and they split this scene in two in the donghua), they changed Fa Hua‘s dialogues to be less ambiguous and even Lan Ge‘s to (again) circle back to „the girls“ even though that never happened in the novel lolol

Like I said, definitely to make sure the censorship doesn‘t shoot them down 😭 and to probably balance out the gayness in the next ep LOL (episode 37, my beloved…). Alas, some things had to give just so they can keep the other iconic scenes where they were mistaken for a couple and LG calling FH his boyfriend in front of his parents :“) even then the donghua diluted some things too ahaha (but at the same time made the scene more sweet too ???? - The mention of Hongbao was also only added in the end as an afterthought, framed more as FH worrying over someone who literally sacrificed her life for them. Not only that, they actually also changed how Hongbao got the life stone from the Green Sea of Life. In the novel, she snatched it from them when she searched their bodies after they failed to run from her. In the donghua, they gave it to her after she protected them from the Heavenly Devils in episode 34.

- Lan Ge‘s personality in the donghua is a lot more…exaggerated? Probably to accentuate his cuteness ahaha so I‘m not gonna complain, but LG is a lot less…stupid in the novel JDJDJDK he still has his clumsy and stupid moments, but usually FH‘s there to knock him down a peg or two LOL

Tbh I like the donghua‘s interpretation of LG a lot, but what I wish they didn‘t change was him canonically having a beautiful singing voice. It‘s in his name dammit!! (蓝歌 = Blue Song). I wish we got to see him sing more qwq granted he doesn‘t even sing that much in the novel either but…I wish they showed him singing well in the donghua instead of what we got…

- They also showed much less bickering and banter between FH and LG in the donghua :( it‘s one of my fav moments of them in the novel, but I get why they had to cut it (screentime constraints and all that). But I reaally wish they kept FH‘s sassiness and bluntness with others too…like this man is absolutely ruthless especially with LG when it comes to dissing LOL but it also extends to other people he doesn’t like like Shenglian and Xiao Zhan. It‘s honestly insane how much they held back in the donghua 😭👏👏👏 I drew one of the funniest interactions of them here ahaha

- Fa Hua’s personality largely stayed the same, but the donghua did make him more…easily flustered around women who show interest in him ? In the novel he‘s actually quite dismissive and has a huge idgaf energy…😭 this is probably one of my biggest gripes with the donghua dhdjdhd but to be fair they also made him softer around LG too so I guess you win some you lose some LOL

The scenes in question were when Big Golden Goat Lady (who btw, they also made her to be all flustered when talking abt marriage??? When in the novel she was very matter-of-fact and pointedly not shy whatsoever, mainly focused on how FH would be an asset to her clan lol, and saying how marrying him would dilute the purity of the clan), LG teased FH about it and all FH did was glance at him and say „Childish.“ to him telepathically without all the embarrassed fussing lol. Oh and they also removed this dialogue between FH & LG,,, they‘re so damn silly bro i can‘t omfg

And another scene they excluded in the donghua was a scene where they were working together with the Five Commanders in the Thunder Legion. FH chose to work together with the only female Commander, Leng Lan, and she obviously didn‘t trust him. But only reason for this is bc she and her brigade was the only one he was familiar with bc they met them already and LG told him about her brigade earlier 😭 that and he was confident in his abilities regardless of who he chose ahaha

(I kid you not…FH smiled and laughed so much because of LG in this arc. Specifically, after That Hug Scene in episode 31/chapter 118…I had to stop reading bc my heart was so full lmao. I am so SO glad the donghua absolutely nailed this development bc the amount of times FH smiled/laughed bc of LG in S3 is twice as much as S1-S2 combined qwq <3)

Idk it just feels like to me that TJSS was reaallly hammering down how FH isn‘t interested in any of the female characters at all throughout the entire book 😭👏👏 like the female cast aside from Hongbao (and Shenglian) were mostly there to drive the plot forward + world building.

It‘s like a subverted harem where the main male chars are surrounded by women who want to marry them but also not bc they aren‘t even interested in them and just need something from FH & LG lmao (the tiger sisters wanting to piss off their dad, golden goat wanted someone as strong as her to help her clan, Shenglian wanted the Peerless Bead).

I love how it shows how each of these female characters have their own ambition and aren‘t just there as „potential love interest“ for the boys but also show FH and LG‘s lack of interest 👍 it‘s a nice change from the usual ahaha. To be fair I do think the donghua managed to show this too, but the novel did it much better imo

- Another scene they changed slightly was the scene where they saw each other naked JDNFJDK and yes in the novel they had no clothing whatsoever lol and LG didn‘t have emergency clothes for them (that was only bc of censorship lolol)

FH‘s reaction was also quite different from the novel ahaha he was much more…crazy ???? Mad. Furious. Yes HDNFJFKDK-

He already apologized once like in the donghua, but they didn‘t immediately make up and needed some time to cool off by themselves bc FH literally beat LG up immediately 😭😭😭 LG was initially gonna let FH beat him up without much complaint bc he felt guilty, but then FH just didn‘t seem to be stopping and grew madder so they ended up beating each other up and wrestling JFNFDNDJK

"I'm sorry." Fahua's voice was a little hoarse.

Lan Ge was stunned for a moment. It had been a long time since they knew each other. This was the first time he heard Fahua actually apologize.

"The body, hair and skin are given to the parents. According to the tradition of our jurisdiction, except for the parents, the body cannot be seen by others casually."

"Then what would happen if I saw it?" Lan Ge asked curiously.

Fahua glanced at him, "Not much."

(this almost makes NO sense bc he was SO friggin mad that he thought LG saw him naked bc of his domain‘s traditions and apparently it meant nothing ??????? Nah. Nah man. I refuse to believe that LOL I mean you could argue this was the first time anyone‘s ever seen him naked which is why he overreacted that way but omg 😭 my intuition is saying sth else is at play…maybe he was angry the thought of being forced to marry LG HAHAAHKDJSK or maybe this is how he reacts when he‘s embarrased, or maybe all of the above :3 who knows. We already know nudity is one of the few things that can crack his stoicness ahaha)

also LG crying out bc he didn‘t want to be the woman „why can‘t you be the woman?“ and FH‘s just like „can we not talk about this?“ while pouting ????? Ohmygoodjdjdh 😭👌💕💕💕

And of course, there‘s the scene where Lu Ying found them naked back in the house in the Green Sea of Life and just casually told them to continue what they were doing LMAOOOO I WISH THAT WAS ADAPTED BUT I GET WHY IT ISNT SHJDHSJS

- Hongbao is also quite different in the novel, and the Director actually admitted that they changed her to be slightly softer in the donghua. She was much more stoic and doesn‘t comprehend human culture like boyfriend-girlfriend, she’s colder and aloof even till the end of the book after she was reborn as a human girl. She only started to understand human emotions after she turned into a human at the end of the book.

- Hongbao‘s scene after the final battle with LG‘s parents were much, MUCH better in the novel. A lot of fans actually (rightfully) complained on weibo bc it was nothing like in the novel, instead the donghua snuck in another „come be LG‘s potential wife!“ joke even though by that point Hongbao was obviously intended to be more like family to FH & LG and learn how to be human through them and their families. In the novel it was only Xiangyun who mentioned that (bc Lan Xiang have always been more lax when it comes to LG marrying) and it wasn‘t done in an exaggerated manner either:

It‘s one of my fav scenes especially with Hongbao and I too was so upset they didn‘t include it :“) bc Xiangyun showing Hongbao warmth of a mother and family is so so important to her development as a character 😭💖 and seeing FH and LG as her family…sigh. Alas…

- Lan Ge‘s kindness

We know LG is a kindhearted person despite his flaws—FH wouldn‘t have loved him if he wasn‘t lol. But there are some scenes they didn‘t include in the novel that really show his consideration especially towards FH and explains why FH slowly warmed up and opened up to him.

For example after they met again at the Tri-Domain Competition, LG was shocked when he found out FH didn‘t have a place to stay and begrudgingly (but still willingly) planned to pay for his hotel room so he wouldn‘t have to sleep on the streets :“) Obviously they ended up not getting a single room bc it was all booked (they were so close to a "there was only one bed" situation damn…) but they did end up sharing a tent HAHAHA (eventually anyway when LG finally stops being a petty ass lmao)

And there was this scene after they started training together in earnest:

(P. S. LG sweetie wdym you‘ve always been observing him every day that you know his habits and that he takes a bath everyday (this was mentioned in an earlier chapter haha) 😄😄😄 sweetheart…

Oh the scene in the donghua where LG followed FH and saw him bathe before accidentally falling into the pool didn’t happen in the novel ahaha but it’s a welcome addition :3 I do think the donghua does a better job at showing LG being in denial about his attraction to men Fa Hua and it‘s sooo nice to especially see it in the deleted scenes ahaha)

But yeah, FH seeing how LG is actually quite generous and kind despite his brashness and arrogance, willing to pay for his hotel room bc he was about to sleep on the streets and considerate enough to get FH something to eat because he noticed FH was broke and ate nothing but crackers everyday…whose heart wouldn‘t be warmed by this ??? 🥹

And this scene after they met the Big Golden Goat and she treated them to the fish they caught:

The way LG—who complained nonstop about having to eat the bland crackers throughout the trip at sea—willingly ate it without complaints OR FH asking bc he didn‘t want to mess up FH‘s cultivation ?????????????:):):€/)/&-&-&

LIKE,,,, imagine this from FH‘s perspective: the person who obviously has a big appetite and loves to eat and is never against complaining his discomfort quietly follows your lead and only consumes the thing you‘re allowed to eat in solidarity without complaint and because he was afraid of messing your cultivation. If that isn‘t an act of love idk what is 😭💖💕💕 their love language really is acts of service ahaha

And FH being the little shit that he is (and obviously happy and touched at this gesture from LG) just never told him until that very second LOLLLL I love them so much byeeee OTL

- The scene that the donghua actually built upon is the scene in episode 34 when they had to part ways after basically being stuck together for 3 years qwq I absolutely LOVE the donghua‘s version omg and they nailed the quiet affection they have for each other and the discomfort of having to physically separate and be away from one another 😭💔

Fahua stood on the shore until the ripples left by Lan Ge dissipated, then turned and walked in the direction of the City of Wisdom.

Ever since they had the relationship of Wushuangzhu, they were together most of the time, and they were somewhat uncomfortable when they suddenly separated. In fact, it is impossible for them to be truly separated. Whether it is cultivation or spiritual communication, they maintain an extremely close connection.

- ok I’m gonna start talking about scenes from the last arc bc this is another scene that I hold so dear to my heart and absolutely gutted me when I realized they didn‘t have enough time to fit it in qwq

Any scene that starts with "Night fell" in the novel, you know it‘s gonna be sweet as hell 👌

Just- this whole scene + BBQ scene deserves a whole episode alone man 😭💔 but alas…

FH who‘s smiling more and loves messing with LG and LG who‘s grown so comfortable with FH and wants to show him the things he loves…we could‘ve had it all…

- Another scene they sadly couldn‘t fit in the donghua was this scene after the BBQ scene. Honestly I have no complaints bc the donghua made the scene even cuter than the novel, but it lacked the sheer hilarity of their interaction and FH trolling LG HAHAHAHA

Oh and in the novel, the BBQ scene is the first time FH drank alcohol, not just eat meat! I thought I should mention that bc I felt it important to his character development and relationship growth with LG :D bc FH has always avoided alcohol bc of its side effects, but he felt safe enough to drink and let go with LG at his side;;

Anyways here‘s the scene of FH being an absolute troll (and LG getting his revenge for all his bullying only for it to backfire LOL):

And another scene after they realized the Heavenly Demons have arrived where FH immediately told LG "I understand. I'll stay with you." They did keep a part of this dialogue but not all :“) which is a shame bc it gave us an insight on how they felt at that moment in time.

Basically LG called out to FH in his heart and FH replied faintly "There‘s no need to say words of gratitude." bc he could tell LG was so, so grateful he stayed just for him even though they should be running away, but at this point, their relationship was already beyond that. So instead LG deflected and said "For the sake of your willingness to stay with me, let's forget about the beef tongue just now!"

And Fa Hua only replied with:

"Speaking as if I can live if you die." Fa Hua's body paused for a moment before he accelerated again and headed straight for Thunder City.

Lan Ge was a little dazed while speeding up. Why did this guy's words seem inconsistent? Could it be that he was also a little nervous?

Like…omg OTL I really wish they kept this bc there‘s a lot of unspoken stuff between them and I love it qwq

- Even though the donghua did sneak in a really funny scene of LG‘s parents suspecting LG actually being in a relationship with FH and going „No way…right?“ in the novel they actually explored it more even if just a bit ahaha

It just showed how his parents would be totally okay with him being in love with FH as long as he either took on the job or got married LMAO

- "I would love the whole world for you."

「为了你我愿意热爱整个世界。」

They actually managed to reference this line in the donghua for a split second ahaha and I loooveee how they used "and the most important one…is you." in place of that bc I literally lost my mind during that scene BDNDBDK BUT !!! I wanted to talk about the significance of this line and why they had to remove it due to censorship.

This line "For you, I would love the whole world" was the name of the chapter (Ch 164), and it is also the name of the autobiography by the author Tang Jia San Shao/TJSS, where he narrates the 16-year love story between him and his (now late) wife, how their friendship and love persist over the years. The fact that he used this specific line for FH & LG is so— OTL it just shows how he wanted the readers to know that the love between FH & LG runs deep and changed them both for the better, how important they are to each other. That and…his wife passed away due to cancer while he was writing this novel. I will forever be grateful to him for still pushing through despite the obvious grief he lived in and wish him nothing but the best;;

Here‘s the scene from the novel:

While it is true that the ultimate law of fire is warmth, they were much more upfront of the true nature: THEY USED THE POWER OF LOVE !!!!! It‘s so clinche and corny and I love it so friggin much 🥹💖💕💕

And the way LG was all like „For whom do you love? For whom?!" as though he’s daring FH to say it outloud and FH not even denying it,,, them not wanting to acknowledge it bc obviously it‘s EACH OTHER 😭✨ man,,,, my embarrassed bbys ilysm 🥰

TJSS had no intention of being subtle in the novel that they do love each other—the nature of the love is intentionally kept vague so we can interpret it however we want, but the fact that they‘re also clearly written as soulmates is so— *chef‘s kiss*

We also got to see them hug nonconsensually aka forced by the Peerless Bead and they were like „ewwww get off!!!“ afterwards as if they’ve never hugged before (remember FH comforting LG with a hug…and LG hugging FH’s thigh…yea…) LOL it was so silly of them dhsjshajajah

- Chapter 118/Episode 31: "Good boy."

Saving this for last because it‘s 1) my favorite, most beloved scene in the entire book and 2) the donghua actually nailed it 100% and made it even better. Pretty sure all the budget went to that episode omg 😭🫶✨ which is so real of them bc it‘s THE most crucial scene in the whole book, especially when it comes to LG & FH‘s relationship. It created a very subtle shift in their dynamic in that…they know now. They know how much they matter to each other. Not just bc they could feel each other‘s emotions, but because of their actions.

In the novel, FH was willing to sacrifice his cultivation in order for them to survive, in order for LG to avenge his parents, and when LG saw FH…LG saw the back of his mother as she was sacrificing herself for him, and he snapped. The donghua turned it even more emotional and dramatic by making them nearly lose their lives but it works, bc it still followed the core of the narrative.

All that matters is for us to know just how important this was to them, and to show how LG who was passively suicidal defy death bc he wanted FH to live. That he didn‘t want FH to sacrifice himself like his parents did. And FH now knew just how much LG cares about him too qwq sigh. Man. This scene was done so incredibly beautifully and respectfully, and for that alone I‘m willing to overlook all the other flaws of the donghua ahaha

Here‘s my favorite excerpt from the novel:

Fahua felt the holy power in his body like a blowout, and felt the blank ninth page of the god-given code slowly opened. He lowered his head, looked at Lan Ge who was hugging his thigh in a daze, raised his hand, and gently stroked his head, subconsciously said: "Good boy! (乖!)"

Lan Ge suddenly let go of his arms as if he had been struck by electricity and jumped up in an instant, "Good boy, my ass!"

But Fahua laughed, with a gentle and happy smile, and surprisingly didn't diss him again.

Lan Ge also laughed, yes, they succeeded,

You remember how gentle FH is around children right? And he would often praise them with "乖" when they hug his thigh and clamour around him…I think LG definitely reminded him of them in that moment, clutching tightly to him, desperately, because he didn‘t want to lose him at all. He‘s so irrevocably fond of him and they love each other so SO much I just— *collapses*

FH‘s always been very gentle and patient with LG (when he‘s not being a bully and manhandling him lolol) especially in the face of his grief, and it all came to a head in this scene, where LG was struck with the fear of losing FH and being left behind again, where he was forced to be honest with his feelings and have it reach FH…god this scene is so peak. And the donghua did it perfectly.

Anywho hmm…I think I got all the important differences hmmm I can‘t fit in any more images anyway but if I did forget some (and I‘m sure i have lmao) I‘ll just add it under a reblog or sth :D

I do think the novel does a good job at keeping their relationship relatively vague and ambiguous while still catering to danmei enjoyers and keeping itself genuine and true to itself haha.

I heard TJSS actually wanted to write a BL but he realized it wasn‘t working out the way he wanted so he changed his mind and we ended up with this gem XD and honestly I wouldn‘t have it any other way bc that‘s what makes FH & LG so special to me (but that‘s just me).

(Plus censorship has been growing even more strict sadly and in a way…it‘s a good thing Shenlan Qiyu isn‘t a „true“ BL bc we might not have gotten 3 seasons worth of content in that case in this day and age 😭💔 ughhh)
